How to Care for Your Barrel Rocker Furniture

Reclaimed wine barrel wood is naturally dense and durable — it's been soaking in wine and aging spirits for years, which actually helps preserve it. That said, all wood exposed to the outdoors benefits from a little attention.

The most important thing you can do is apply a quality outdoor wood sealant or oil once or twice a year. We recommend a penetrating oil finish like teak oil or a dedicated outdoor wood oil. Apply it with a rag, let it soak in, and wipe off the excess. This keeps the wood from drying out and cracking.

If your piece gets wet — from rain or a spill — let it dry naturally. Don't use a heat gun or direct sunlight to speed up drying, as this can cause the wood to crack. A light sanding with fine-grit sandpaper followed by a fresh coat of oil will restore the surface if it starts to look dull.

For the granite or stone top on a fire table, a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is all you need for regular cleaning. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, which can etch the stone surface. A dedicated stone sealer applied once a year will help protect against staining.

The propane burner and fittings should be inspected at the start of each season. Check the hose for cracks or wear, and make sure all connections are tight. If you're storing the fire table over winter, disconnect the propane tank and store it separately in a well-ventilated area.
